She was sitting listening to something on her phone when she started to fall asleep then Nick calls. Sudden loud noises while on the cusp of sleep is jarring on the nerves and can cause someone to jump startled and the earbuds in her ears directed he ringtone into her ears. I suppose I could of just said that Nick called her just as she was falling asleep and the ringtone was directed into her ears thanks to her earbuds.

From what I have heard, this is going to be a thriller, opposed to what I've originally thought, a romantic drama.
