What would happen if the anime would had been handled better.

The doujin.

Always liked a bit of history in my doujin.

...too bad it means that a good amount of these ship girls won't survive the war.
The hanging scene gave me flashbacks to barefoot gen.

All in all, a fine doujin, even if light on the erotic.

All it took was reading “Takot-“ for me to audibly go ‘Oh no.’ Welp. It’s not like I can’t not not read it.

And so, it begins. Thank you very much, I wanted to know what happened in this story, knowing that Takotsuboya always did some "special" story.
Hope you'll do the other from KanColle.

Thanks for the hard work, I never thought I'd see this translated. I hope you guys can do the subsequent parts as well.

Noticed a typo: "French India" on page 46 and 48 should be "French Indochina".

The Fubuki we always wanted in the anime...
The one we can at least enjoy in this doujinshi....

The India/Indochina thing pointed out by Big Halo is also present in page 26 and 51. Anyway thank you very much for the translation, I didn't think anyone would have tried to do it. I'm hoping that you will tackle the sequels of this series as well at some point.

Can't even imagine how much time it was spent translating this.

I have no idea why erotic elements were added though, what a wild ride from spreading Fubuki's anus and lesbian petting to a history lesson in one sitting. I'm not used to this.

Jesus I remember when I tried translating some of tk's work before. It's an insane job. Absolutely great work. I didn't think anyone would actually translate this one out of all of his works due to the required knowledge in both politics and translations to interpret the meanings.

Fantastic job. tk's works are some of the most dense and rewarding doujins I've ever read.

Jesus fuck is this real? Is the author thinking the "I" in IJN stands for "International" or something?

@instant_noodle: Maybe the author speaks Japanese and doesn't think anything about what English-speakers call the 大日本帝国海? At any rate, there's a stark difference between Western imperialism and the Japanese empire; whatever wrong Japan may have done to China, it liberated Burma, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines from the British, French, Dutch, and American colonial empires respectively. The world is a better place for white Europeans no longer being able to exploit the entirety of Southeast Asia for their own benefit.

Go fuck yourself, @tameni . Don't pretend that the only reason you're defending their atrocities is because you don't want a bad taste in your mouth watching anime. People do bad shit in war, but speaking as someone whose grandparents really did go through those trying times and told harrowing stories about what they did to survive, the Japanese were brutal and inhumane in their occupation of South East Asia.

@instant_noodle It might be part of the translation but aside from the Tojo fellation a bit of it does seem to imply that the Japanese honor bit is kind of a delusion so it might just be that they're supposed to be so brainwashed by nationalism that she's that blind to Japan doing the same shit.

SOGee is right, Japanese nationalism was basically forced from the top-down in order to consolidate power within the central government around the Meiji reformation, which in turn was largely a consequence of early contact with the Western powers. Since the government had been feudal for a very, very long time before that, and the new order was more meritocratic (with some concessions to feudalistic traditions), a great deal of emphases was placed on rendering achievements. A lot of the decision making within the Japanese government as to foreign relations are probably better understood as internal power plays among the higher-ranks rather than strategic movements or any sort of genuine ethical or even international concerns. Honor/yamato damashii/bushido were mostly used as buzzwords to encourage subordination and obedience among the lower ranks. If the brass were genuinely concerned with well-being of the nation as a whole, let alone the rest of Eastern Asia, it would have been an incredibly stupid decision to make a preemptive attack on the American fleet, particularly without the logistics to make any sort of meaningful victory even feasible. It makes a lot more sense to think of it as the consequence of escalating braggadocio, with dissent effectively being equated to submission; this also explains why the intelligence reports were inflated even to COs.
