The girl apparently had some sort of relationship with the guy on the island where her grandmother lived, but at some point she had to move. So they decided to take eachother's virginity before she left, and the guy promised that he'd call her and keep in contact while she was gone, but I'm assuming he failed to do so for some reason.

At the last page, as she's beginning to resent him for it, her past self comes and reminds her that although he may not have deicded to continue their relationship, the time they spent together was precious, and she should treasure that instead of hating him for ruining what could have been.
