Gyaru-o aren't meant to be "psuedo black guys"; they're flashy players -- pick-up artists, essentially. The idea is to add impact to the betrayal by having the protag's lover fall for some cheap, shallow womanizer. "There's no way my girlfriend would fall for someone so vulgar and cheap", says the "virtuous" protag, for some reason not realizing that womanizers are good at dealing with women.

@nowittycomment I also assume it adds a bit of unrealistic vibe to it. Furthermore, depending on who you'd want to target, the guy's appearance doesn't matter that much and is probably easier to draw. If you add doujins of other series into the mix, then "screwing the hot rival/friend" is the most common of stories, so you get tons of competition there. Then it's also the fact that "romantic" stories where they fall in love with the other guy is more like a break-up than NTR, defeating the purpose, where the point is usually that the girl feels bad about screwing someone other than who she's supposed to or the guy/they both knows, but still wants to be with her even if she's banged by someone else. If you add an ugly guy into the mix you kind of get the feeling she's just into it for the sex (at least in the beginning). There has been a trend in "training the girl to screw her boyfriend better" series lately, where the "mentor" is usually a hot college guy banging a (senior) high-schooler that got troubles with her sexual relationship with her boyfriend. Maybe because less and less people have sex in Japan those stories pop up as a fantasy for how to get/train the girls to take more initiative.

JJZ-Good: are you serious? there's a equal plethora of ntr about women cheating with a younger partner. The thing is most of the time they are handsome partners while the ugly end is almost exclusively reserved for oldmen.

It's because feudalism. Modern Japanese society is functionally a heavily feudalistic plutocracy, with managers/bosses taking the place that "Feudal Lords" used to hold. Basically, the "lord" has far more money, prestige and power than the lowly worker could ever have, and by simple virtue of having a higher position on the totem pole takes whatever he wants. The worker just gets to exist, as long as he is making himself useful to the lord. In feudal japan, this was done because the lord had horses and samurai with which he protected the citizens living in his domain, so everyone worked for the lord who demanded absolute loyalty, or get exiled. A random citizen that got thrown out of their village got thrown out basically naked, and that was a death sentence (a LOT of Japan was dangerous wilderness until about the mid 1700's) so Feudal lords got away with a hell of a lot of stupid shit. There's even a term called "Karōshi" which more or less represents this phenomenon where Japanese officer workers literally working themselves to death before they hit 40 years of age, because they dedicate themselves so heavily to their jobs from the feudalism mindset still being so ingrained into their society.

These NTR doujins are more or less an extreme of the modern feudal lord using his prestige and power to get what he wants, but in real life when this does occur it often leads to the wife eventually committing suicide (legit problem in Japan). Even though there are laws in place that do criminalize the type of things you would see in, say, ANY takeda hiromitsu work, a lot of Japanese simply will not go against their bosses even if this did occur. And it sadly does occur fairly frequently in modern Japanese society, with real societal pushback against it only really starting up as of about 2012. The main difference is that in real life, there aren't that many businessmen with enough wealth, power or prestige to do this, while NTR doujins make it seem like every random balding store manager is a secret pimp taking all the neighborhood wives for a spin.
