"Homo" is a Western colloquialism that the Japanese got from us. If someone from the West's design is to translate Japanese using our terminology, he's way off--and he knows it.

As you say, "BL Book" is a euphemism for what the translator believes to be offensive terminology. His goal wasn't to get the meaning as close as possible, but rather to hide the audience from the truth.

Besides, that one phrase is not the only instance of intentional mistranslation. There are multiple instances where the Gal fleshes out more complex sentences using the same concept that he simply does away with. For instance, here are the more poignant examples:

I dunno it it's done to push an agenda or not, or if the translator was simply confused and uniformed, but I do get the point about the mistranslation. In Japan, there is a definite line between how BL or yaoi, the softer stuff aimed at women, and more hardcore gay erotica are drawn. The actual context of the original is that the trap is aiming to draw the latter, but the girl believes his level of penis detail is more in line with the former. For him to in the translation now actually be drawing BL apparently, but the cocks just look weird does change the meaning in a not insignificant way.
