He got bitchy because people were trading his work for free just like this gallery instead of spending $40 per CD for his artwork. Dr C will always be one of my favorites but his business model just became outdated. Instead of running a subscription site where he could upload new artwork monthly, he wanted to release 1 CD maybe every 2 or 3 years and expected people to only obtain the works through him. I think he essentially just gave up and moved on.
