Regarding the ALT TL;

1. I actually commissioned this the day before the ALT TL was uploaded, and like a couple of other things which I had planned for my birthday that got done by other groups this would have probably been changed out. Thankfully those others used good scans/didn't work with downsamples (plus only one technically came out after I commissioned it and the TLer let me switch). This leads to the second point...

2. I'm not sure I understand the logic of the other person who placed that commission. They either don't care about the scan quality by having the translator use the scan from doujinantena or don't need something of decent quality because they wouldn't be viewing it on anything in HD or higher... Honestly it leaves me annoyed and disappointed at best and the adjectives I feel/felt only get/got worse from those.

It just strikes me as settling for good enough (not the translation mind you constantly does good work) when you could also get a HQ scan. Here's my logic about this whole comparison using an analogy;
People don't like bad or mediocre translations with good scans (hence the poor grammar tag). That's like taking a sports car body and having a cheap little four-cylinder engine (all show no substance).
Then there's this scenario with a good translation on mediocre scans. Nice engine in a cheaply made subcompact car (great under the body but eye gouging exterior).

3. This would have been more or less moot if it was a scanlation group/individual since they work with what they have access too and I couldn't really blame them if they'd done it.

P.S.- The main reason I am vexed is that I actually reached out to another user who I thought might be considering this as a project. Turned out I was right (I stupidly did this AFTER I had my scans so shame on me too) and they have good scans too, better than mine honestly. At least we didn't end up with another set of scans and TL. Oh and they want to remain anonymous so don't bother asking.

TL;DR: If you're a fellow person that commissions translations maybe don't do so with doujinantena quality scans. Just a thought.

You could have at least considered commissioning a better scan...there are plenty of scanners who take on and do that kind of work. And congrats on settling for just good enough.

At the time i commissioned it I didn't see any other scans that were higher quality, so im not sure what you were expecting me to do exactly. And while the the scan that I did commission wasn't exactly the highest quality its still good enough as far as im concerned .
