At the beginning of the story (page 2), he threw the bottle, breathed in the perfume himself (Because it's a gas) and got lost in his own delusion. Everything from page 2-6 is a hallucination, except the end of page 6, where it's revealed LeBlanc wasn't really affected.

Personally I thought it was a pretty reasonable ending, but I understand why people don't like certain twist endings.
