I have begun translating recently, so go easy on me. I have a special interest in Neon Genesis Evangelion works and I have waited too long for someone else to translate them. So, I have taken it upon myself to do so and share those fruits with this community. I do this in my spare time (which I have very little of) so it will take time to turn out new works. I am on Patreon under Rogue Weasel, I won't beg but this does take up a chunk of time, but a tiny token would be appreciated
At the bottom of every page of the RAW, there's an option to download the original source file of the images so you're not using downscaled images. In addition, you should always save your files as 32-bit Greyscale PNGs to cut down on file size. These 2 concepts are absolutely essential in good scanlations. You should re-edit this and your other project (https://e-hentai.org/g/1590620/de811a332b/) keeping these 2 things in mind: Making sure to use the original source files (and not downscaled ones) and saving your files in 32-bit Greyscale PNGs to cut down on bloat (excessive file size).
What @THDragon said, with just a nitpick: it's 32-colors palette, not 32-bit. 32-bit means full color + transparency (4 * 8-bit for red, green, blue and alpha channels) and doesn't actually cut down on file size, instead increases it ~3x for no benefit at all as the three color channels have the same value and the transparency should be zero.
If you're using Photoshop or equivalents, first thing you should do is switching to grayscale mode so all your save data is 1/3 the size, then do all your edits* and save the result as PSD in case you have to do corrections later. Only then, if the image warrants it (pretty much only the images with screentones) do an "export for web" where you decrease the shades of grey to 32 to cut the size again.
Also, thanks for the upload ;)
* Basically the process is 1) straighten 2) crop 3) typeset 4) clean 5) level so the blacks are black and the whites white 6) save 7) export for uploading. Steps 3-5 are best done on a separate layer so they're reversible.
