OK we hunters are not that bad. We capture as much as we can. Why? It's quicker than brawling till the end. If it leads to that it's either for an elder dragon mission or we forgot to stock up on traps and tranq bombs. So we cap most of the time. There's three types of missions. Hunt, Capture and Kill. Hunt is neutral mission, you can kill or capture. Capture is well capture or fail the mission. Kill is reserved for really dangerous monsters and only for elder dragons.

Let's be clear. While hunters are not exactly "saints". What its done ingame (all the grinding for monster parts and everything) that's not within canon. Canon applies only on Story, as in hunting or culling population of monsters which cause problems. And Elder Dragon's aren't exactly harmless too. And there is also the MonHun Stories in which you battle with your own monster partner.
