Ok one the first girl wasn't even his girlfriend but rather childhood friend. next off as pointed out the boy made it about race from the beginning and picked a fight with a superior opponent so he brought his whooping onto himself. @ father1 i rewatched the first chapter and it was specifically stated that BBC was attacked because he actively hit on his girlfriend not because he is black. during chapter 3 page 3 hiroki did not have problem being agressive with while dude either since they hit on his mother.he is hotheaded and dumb but most people are like that when they are young since society actively enables and encourages this suicidal behavior and villainizes people for cowardice if you don't do that so it is not shocking he would act that hotheaded especially with Japanese culture being highly class based where action like Seppuku is considered honorable and running away is considered villainous and unacceptable.

@holy_demon He's not even really a character tbh; he's a plot device. You never even see him speak, you only ever see other people reacting to what he said. It's not surprising though. Male foreigners are pretty much always depicted like that. With black foreigners they just choose whether they want to focus more on the foreigner part or the black part when referring to them. I'm not sure how much any of that reflects on the author though, given that we have little reason to believe he's any more or less racist than the average Japanese person. It's definitely harder to form grounded opinions of a group of people when you may have never so much as met one of them.
