Some notes:

The title, Kaitai Sensho is a reference to "Kaitai Shinsho", which is a Dutch anatomy book that was translated to Japanese in the Edo period. The title means "New Book on Anatomy". It's Dutch name was "Tafel Anatomie". I didn't read much about it, but it sounds like it's significant in Japan more than anywhere else for some reason.
