Part of the problem is, in a very real sense...

Darkness Risen didn't actually RESOLVE any plots...but, like...any ONE plot-thread is interesting...though following the one someone finds 'sexy' is a bit hard...

That said...this is one of the BETTER "Problematic" comics I've seen...as there is actuallly story to it, that goes in interesting ways, and when it's on target it can be quite sexy. (Though sometimes damaged by animation issues)

It always seems like when artists try world building, instead of focusing on one plot or at the very least finishing it before moving onto the next story, there are seven subplots going on at once with the focus shifting constantly from one character to another.

It would have just been easier to break it up into smaller bite-sized pieces.

I enjoy the concept of this comic a lot more than it's execution. Like other's have mentioned, there's too much currently unresolved.
I hope that we get to see more crossovers, but historically, we saw next to nothing of the DC universe in Darkness Risen, despite the fact that we're hopping around between dimensions constantly.
This doesn't give me hope that things will ever be resolved, much like Black Pharaoh's Forsaken Souls, where the creator clearly doesn't know where they are going, nor how they are going to get there.

Honestly, Black Pharaoh knows exactly where he's going. It's just not an interesting place. "OC fraks the entire universe.".

Part of the problem is the sheer number of TFs gets...random.

Ooooh....I do have to say? Cantraps does a good job of KEEPING THINGS HAPPENING...and not just having "Hero turns into a villain, there, we're done, let's eat."

As I mentioned in the past "arc", Cantraps needs to really start focusing on single ideas and single "themes", instead of throwing everything and the kitchensink into these stories. There's great potential here, for the most part the rendering and character design is quite top-notch and there's some good individual ideas... But as a whole it just doesn't hold up. The comic is an unfocused mess that never decides what it wants to be or to tell. The answer to progressing MJ's story arc isn't submitting her to a completely different scenario, it's to single out that demonic idea and play with it some more in a context where there's at best a power struggle between two or three parties and not fifteen. If you want to make her into a symbiote, it's better to just make a new comic around that story instead. You need to split up these ideas, Cantraps, and focus on them individually as their own separate stories instead of stitching them all together into a Frankenstein's monster of an ongoing series.

I only write this because I really think there's great potential. Wouldn't bother to write otherwise.
