Iron isn't that really bad, just 1. the corners of the spine part of the page curves up when ironing off the glue, which is why the scans get skewed or slanted when scanning because they're not straight, and 2. thin line of glue still remains on a page, so I just said fuck it, go buy a guillotine cutter on a wooden board, even if it does cost me $250 for a used one, cuz I damn sure ain't paying $800+ for a new one.....just hope the blade is sharp enough to cut books

I take off the glue edge with a paper slicer before scanning, but yeah, extra work. And I switched to using a glass-surface electric stove on low heat for debinding, shit is cash especially for large format.

as a librarian and archivist the terms used in scanning pierce through my soul but access to a bookeye for digitization is extremely expensive so I understand what needs to be done. continue doing god's work
