No, I don't know about the lingering texts in the bubbles because I never turned it to grayscale and max out the layer but why does it even matter? Are you gonna be using this for another editing? if you're reading through it like a regular person the lingering text is virtually unnoticeable. Hell even when I zoom In the shits so faint I wouldn't notice if I wasn't actively searching for it.
The english is decent and the effort to make it look fine is there too.

Though I will admit I am curious about the process behind it, whenever I try scanlating i just throw a white back layer in gimp and cut out the bubbles with a quick lasso

If you don't mind me asking Majala, how did you actually manage to do that? Very interested in learning about new ways of cleaning like that. Personally, even if the text is still there as residue, the end result comes out as a "Clean" bubble and that is undeniable.

I’d be more inclined to complain about the multiple grammatical errors and the handful of odd translation choices than the typesetting. I’d pass it by a QC guy before releasing next time, that way you can catch the little things like that and release at a higher quality.

I simply use..... an eraser tool (#FFFFF) on every box with white background..... and vice versa on black box... though I never knew it left a residue like that when heavily zoom in. Today, when I tried again using the very same erasor... it somehow is able to remove the residue so I don't know why it didn't do that the first time.

Check the settings for opacity on the eraser tool. It mostlikely was probably at somewhere in the 90% range instead of 100%.
You get results like this when you use a brush tool with opacity somewhere between 95-98% opacity. And using the eraser tool is not much different from the brush tool (it's just the brush tool painting with the background color) as long as you don't have an alpha layer.
