It's basically a really cute approach to a fucked up story.

Apparently being fully integrated into the tribe also changes your eye color. The MC started with blue eyes but the moment the full integration and Gender change happened bam green eyes. The same thing seemed to happen to the other one started out with brown eyes but by the end he gets green eyes too.

yall talk about them being completely different from the beginning, and that doesnt take away the wholesomeness. People are constantly changing. Weird would be for someone to never change their personality. Maybe Ill give you an existential crisis but is the truth, if not you wouldnt look back at your past self and think "why tf was I like that?". This change would obviously be accelerated if you are thrown into a completely different culture, and even more for someone who's sex was changed. I find it natural that they wont be the same people they were since their values got adjusted to their cultural environment. They still remember who they were and thats the same as everyone else, just a more sudden change over time compared to usual irl.

@bjpm The difference is it's an artificial change in personality. Not a natural one. And no, they can barely remember who they are by the end of the comic. Stop trying to defend this as anything wholesome or natural. It's just not. Nobody should feel comfortable not having a choice in their sex identity and being forcibly changed to be in a role they aren't initially. Especially when they aren't given a choice in the matter.

So, women and men just choose who they want to be with, with no borders, or methods to it? And two newcomers are just allowed to stay together, instead of integrating into society more broadly? No fucking wonder they've all got green eyes and blue hair, this island's genetic pool is fucked, they cannot have enough people to consistently avoid interbreeding without keeping a strict control on lineages, or regularly bringing in fresh blood from tribes on neighbouring islands (what they don't have any boats for). Literally, the entire plot hangs on magical sex-changing brainwashing tatoos to function, from start to finish, at every single point.

And to the people, thinking this is "cute", or "natural": changes to your body don't affect your mind, if something causes your brain to function differently, it is just brainwashing. It can be "cute", if a murderous blood-crazed killer, a permanently depressed suicider, or a sex-focused incorrigible maniac are turned into normal functioning members of society (not if they become submissive bitches, who still cling to all the same beliefs, but refrain from continuing simply because they are told to by their dom, that's just tragic), but that's clearly not what the story is about. It's about two completely normal people, who suffer misfortune, become torn from their family and friends, one of them seemingly undergoes complete identity death, while other is twisted both in mind and body to fit the needs of the society with complete disregard for his own, in other words - conversion therapy.

There's no fucking inherently evil demon, a disgruntled friend, nor some "forbidden" interest from MC himself, only people making decisions for him for "the greater good", which couldn't exist without goddamned magical tatoos doing all the heavy lifting. That makes this story kinda vile to me, cuz a lot of people apply same kinds of reasoning to the real world, where magic doesn't exist, and what they call "cute" results in regular domestic violence, high divorce rates, opression and suicides of queer people, and other horrendous cases. Presentation does try to do its damnedest best to paint this story "cute", but substance just below the surface is absolitely bloody terrifying, like face of killer beneath a kid's overstretched mask. And if you find the idea of being forcefully turned into a woman to marry your best friend appealing... may I offer you an egg in these trying times?
