I just picked up the Remaster and was trying to remember if Marshal Training took place before or after the main campaign and wanted to see if I could find the answer in my old strategy guide from my childhood. Unfortunately, it is packed away somewhere deep in the closet in one of the boxes that have remained unopened since I moved 5+ years ago. I am very glad that I decided to check to see if this site had a gallery of it!

From what I can see, the guide does not explicitly say one way or the other, but instead treats them as a sort of primer for the rest of the game.
