Good response, but authors and readers will often agree to have willing suspension of disbelief to support the goal of a story (a sexy office blackmail story in this case). In the case of this story it’s also plausible: the wife is in crisis recovery mode where she’s trying to avoid shame and consequences for her husband, and might not be able to take a step back to actually realize the easy legal jeopardy the boss has put himself into.

That said, it would be nice to have a subversion on the usual from time to time, like having the wife and/or husband to have thought two steps ahead of the boss in order to take him down. I still think about the doujin with the twin shrine maidens where they are being gangbanged in front of their childhood friend by rich and powerful men, only for the childhood friend to reveal that he was livestreaming the entire thing to ruin the men and the cops were already on their way. @ssj4tj well, if the other person is like me and works in the accounting/finance these kind of stories just make you cringe because of all the checks and balances out in place to keep these kind of issues from arising.
