I think Borba has set up an arc for these characters long ago. Apart from the absolutely silly world building ("first bunny to abort" anyone?), there's some merit in his work. Judy got destroyed in the first chapter and Nick had his time in the gutter on the second. I'm genuinely curious to know where they are heading. I think my mind is open enough (and my patience is big enough) to just accept this comic for the excessively flawed and personal project that it is.

Time has passed and we all just forgot about the abortion of our kid, the body damages the said abortion resulted in, nick forgot about his backbone once again and judy acts like everything is fine. The power of friendship and love saved the world and here we see the happy ending!

They got the roles backwards. The first part of the story had Judy give up her baby partially because she was afraid of how it might be some kind of horrible fox-rabbit monstrosity. Here she is a few years later, and Judy should have a handsome RABBIT on her arm, and it's HER belly that's swollen with another litter on the way. A pregnant woman can laugh about her current state being the result of her charm. But a MAN is charming, and that in turn makes him fat? How does that work?

I am so confused right now. Has this artist REALLY grown in his story telling now? His characters have grown and matured, the story is likeable, and old friends reflect and are mature adults about their past. The itch that I have in my brain is "why" a mayor of all people needs so much security detail. If this story ends with Nick taking a bullet to protect Judy, I will be so disappointed. I will upgrade my vote if this has a decent ending but from the artist's past stories, there always seems to be some drastic, dramatic FUBAR ending that disappoints instead of enjoys. This group faces significantly more dangers than the rest of the city just because they're so much smaller, and they feel like they need places specifically made for them where they can live safely, and the integration of larger animals would only put them at greater risk. No hate here, but the storytelling hasn't really matured as much as it just skipped ahead to the last page. It introduces a bunch of new plot threads like Nick apparently having moved on, Judy's adopted children that logically should be more difficult to care for than whatever Nick & Judy might've had on their own, etc., and these elements SHOULD have brought their own dramatic tension to the table, but... no. Nick & Judy are SOMEHOW friends, despite leaving things on an absolutely horrible note the last time we saw them. That's not to say this story CAN'T end happily, but it didn't do the work necessary to get us there.

So, we went from something pretty interesting, to a mid point, to a cheesy wholesome and JFK ending?
Yup, this is the lowest of the low that I've ever seen.

I was smiling the entire way. I heard of this infamous comic, and now I've finished it. I haven't been smiling out of joy, but of how amused I've been at the story telling. Making stories is hard,but I feel there's something very wrong if your story gets this kind of reaction. I found the writing to be exaggerated and choppy in how emotions and thoughts were put out. The characters' reactions were explosive while the art to show it was meant to be explosive, but somehow didn't hit the mark for me. It felt empty in a way.

Chapter 2 felt odd because it went for a slam dunk on Nick, when he was the one who left Judy. That's when I started really smiling. It hit all the marks for me when she started the relationship with her now wife and how he was kicked out (rightfully, of course) of the apartment. His emotions and feelings of helplessness didn't do much for me emotionally, but I felt like I knew what was coming anyways.

Then chapter 3 comes in and everything's going good, I guess. Both are happy and successful, despite the relationship being totally destroyed in the last chapter. Sure, time heals all wounds, but this wound is a gash that the bandage of time could not heal. I'm glad to see Nick's doing good, at least. I also find it extremely funny how Hops is now the lesbian mayor with the stereotypical adopted kids.

Overall, I felt like the story was trying to be as dramatic as possible, but ends up being stereotypical as well in its development. It tried, but I guess by the end of the second comic, it was doomed in that regard. Even by the end of the first chapter, I felt there needed to be a re-write. It felt a bit stiff. The JFK thing was pretty funny though. Woulda been even funnier if it actually happened. I guess I just I feel more for Nick than Judy. Mostly because Nick's been alone since the end of the first comic. Probably something more, of course, but I don't blame her for the abortion. Mostly on terms in which, yea, maybe she'd get torn apart if something so big was in her.
