Appreciate the translation, but I don’t understand why people upload incomplete works. If you’re going to finish translating the whole thing anyway, why even bother posting the in-progress versions? Do you gain anything from incomplete stuff? Genuinely confused.

Depends on the length

This one in particular is because my commissioner requested I post it online once the first batch was done, I would have probably waited otherwise since it's on the shorter side. I went along with it since it just happens that the second arc fit neatly at the halfway mark so it didn't break up the story too much if I released it this way.

For other, larger works, it makes more sense to publish it regularly as it gets translated for a couple of reasons:
a) It gives readers the opportunity to read it semi-regularly instead of having to wait months for a finished translation, I suspect most people that follow a 400+ CGset translation would rather have 30-40 pages a week/month instead of having to wait for the full set. Most people read in 30 pages segments anyway if you catch my drift.
b) It lets other translators be aware that you're translating it so that they know there's not that much point in translating it. Of course, they're more than welcome to translate it themselves alongside if they want, but most think of it as a waste of time they could spend translating something else.
c) This may be stretching it a bit, but in some cases, it even mimics the publishing style of the original work. Take H-manga tankoubon for example, most got released one chapter at a time and get compiled after that.

Not that waiting until the entire work is completed is wrong either, both are just a matter of preference.
