Hey, it's me again. I'm back. I just wanna start off by saying fuck fakku, I had no clue they translated Shiki Oriori, so they copyright claimed my last gallery lmao. That's what I get for starting on a project without searching for it just because I like the art.

Anyway, this time I translated something they didn't do. And let met just say, I've never had to deal with so many sfx ON THE SAME PAGE in my life. The last few pages killed me.

I'll be honest, this is really hard to read with all the "sfx" translations. There's a reason sfx is draw in a different style than the text you're actually supposed to read, because it's generally superfluous to the story. Meanwhile in this translation when I scan my eyes across the picture for text, 70% of it is sfx written in the same style as actual dialogue.

@weedlayer: Hey, thanks for the input. The use of the same font was definitely intentional. I did use a different color to help differentiate, but it was still meant to draw attention to the sfx. If I didn't want to help draw attention to them, then I wouldn't bother to translate them. I think of sound effects as more like flavor text, where it's the kind of thing that's nice to be able to read it if you want to. And it does help (in my opinion) enhance the story to be able to read the sound effects as well for people who can't read japanese. On top of that, it comes off as kind of lazy to me to not translate sound effects, as well. I may not be good enough at redrawing entire pages to edit them out, but I figure the least I can do is translate them for others. Since this is a solo thing I'm only doing as a hobby at the moment, it was my decision to make.

This project did have more sfx per page than what I normally deal with though, so I do agree that it did get obnoxiously crowded towards the end. If it's too much of an issue for more people, then I'll use a different font but for now I'm not planning to change that. It's not necessarily a no, you're just the only person to give that feedback so far and I'm not inclined to change it just yet? If that makes sense? So the next chapter will probably be formatted the same way. Just an fyi in case my formatting choice is an issue for you.

a few suggestions for you:
remove all the "sfx:" thing before the actual sfx, it's only making them annoying to read. just "boing" is better than "sfx: boing" for example.
also if you can't redraw or lack the time to do so, just put it on the side of the sfx instead of placing them on top of it (except the large ones).

@ncc: Thanks for the input and the cheers.
Placing them to the side rather than on top felt more awkward to me, since it had a tendency to crowd together when there were multiple sounds effects. I'll make a note of it for other releases and adjust so it's less annoying, but that was already in consideration.
I did also consider removing the sfx: but I feel like it's important to make the distinction between sfx and outside-of-bubble lines from characters. That was the reasoning behind it, anyway. I'll redetermine if I feel it's necessary or not, since it only rarely needs distinction. It wasn't so much of an issue in this release, but the placement most certainly was.

Also, if I sound overly critical, that's not my intent. I like and appreciate all the feedback. That's why I'm engaging in the comments with you guys. All of the feedback is appreciated. I have personal styling choices that I made for myself and adhere to for my releases, yes, but I do try to take the reader's perspectives into account as well before releasing something. If I really didn't care about your input, then I'd just ignore the comments I don't agree with outright and continue to put out trash releases like certain uploaders I won't name but who very obviously have bad reputations within the community. That's not my intent or my goal. I'm just trying to provide maybe not the "best" releases around, but certainly "good enough", and translating things that either weren't translated before or didn't get enough attention (imo). So all that's to say, thank you guys. I will make notes of the issues for the future.
