My two cent on this story is that he should have a more bittersweet ending than this one (like the last story of seto yuuki). I mean ok his passive behaviour is partly the root cause of his situation. But author should cut him some slack. He clearly was on an abusive family and leaving the house was a good decision. I disagree that adding an NTR tag would make more people buy or read a doujin. NTR is a very niche fetish on its own, then factor in the extreme hate that most people have towards stories that have it. I can think of very few situations where a story would get more people to buy or read just by adding a protagonist into the story that gets NTR'd. It's much more likely to cause a more general or vanilla audience to avoid it completely, even if the NTR elements are fairly minor.

That being said, that's not really fair in this case specifically because the MC, the love interests, and the guys 'stealing' the girls are all so unlikable and the sexual situations so vanilla that I think that in this specific case you may be right that the NTR tag brought in more viewers simply because the base story is so vanilla, even with the swinging.
