We've come a long way since August 2007 when the first one came out, at 14 years, this series is almost old enough to drink.
Anyway, I actually am one of his patrons on Skeb, he does great commission work, but it is pricey. If you got the cash, I'd say it's worth it.

But it seems you just over turn the contrast to get rid of the white over cast which is not good, it remove much dark detail and shade.

Don't know what program you used but on GIMP 2.10

just go to Color>Brightness-Contrast set Brightness to -22 Contrast to 18
then Filters>Enhance>Noise Reduction set Strength to 1

this would clear the white over cast, keep more detail in dark part, keep shade of hair and clean 99% the noise.

No. The reason for the size bumb is that the raws were unfortunately saved as very high compressed jpgs and the TL as pngs.

As H0R0 already pointed out the images are overleveled.
But I would suggest to level a different way (also under GIMP but should be very similar under PS)
go to Colors>Levels and set Black to 46 Gamma to 1.20 and White to 253. Denoise optional

I have a better quality raw commissioned. Don't bother trying to tweak this to make it look good or fix the file size. It's not worth trying. You can't make a low quality scan look good.
