26 new pages featuring the stroll to the banquet, banquet preparations and the second run. Still many chapters to go, but it could be a couple of months before I get back to this.

pervM - Indeed, I don't know Chinese and it is quite difficult. I learned that handwritten Chinese is almost a cursive form of their script. Before this project, I'd never really thought about the subject before. Also, I'd never really thought of the countless little decisions that need to be made when converting from a compact ideographical language to a more expansive Latin based language.

phantom116 - ikr? There's a similar joke on page 52 that I laughed pretty hard about, when I first got it translated.

mefatguy90 - I kept up with the original as it was being uploaded. It's my belief that only the last 2 updates (maybe the last 15 pages or so) were censored. Overall I was pretty happy that the originals were very lightly censored. Of the top of my mind the only censoring in the earlier pages were A Zhan's dick (which I don't care about), and the bathing maiden when Mei and Zhan were walking in the country.

Sorry I had to break at the start of the arc covering The Legendary Meat Animal, but that's the way it goes. Tomorrow is another day.

Emmm,I guess you might use something like a machine translator to deal with this work full of Chinese Memes,because it looks like none of the memes were utterly translated.For example our hero's name was translated into [A Zhai].But I have to say that "A Zhai" is actually not a name.It means “Otaku” in Chinese,which is something kind of self-mocking form.Chinese use s the phrase 阿宅（阿reads Ahh,and 宅 reads Zhai） to self-mocking or joke on others on the internet.

And in fact I don't really understand what [layout legion] means.In fact in the original Chinese version there is 敌将 which means 'hostile/emeny general'.And BTW,the whole comic is actually a parody adaptation of the Chinese War of Resistance against the Imperial Japan.The katana of the enemy general on the left indicates this

@Jerryhcy Yes, I am using machine translators in an attempt to make sense of what is taking place. I am sure there are plenty of things missing from the original text. I'm doing this for my own enjoyment, I loved the artwork and really wanted to know what was going on, so I started using google and a couple of proprietary systems to translate. It turned out to be so much work, that I though I should share it, so that others could also enjoy it too. I don't have much hope that anyone else will ever translate this in the future.

I am quite amused that our story's hero is referred to as Otaku. I think the episodes involving him are hilarious, and I feel sorry for Mei having to put up with his idiocy. My favorite episode with him is coming up when him and Mei go to the supply depot to pick up a weeks meat rations. Comedy gold.

layout legion - That page was done early on before I started doing the text differently. I wanted a pair of short words to display vertically, that sort of made sense, since the original didn't translate. The idea was suppose to be Legion Order of Battle, ie the personnel in the Legion, which the middle box on that page covers. Also, the author is pretty loose with the way he describes the unit. Sometimes he says regiment, and sometimes battalion. I went with the word Legion because it's short and a regiment is roughly the same size as a legion, or at least has the same connotations. I've gone with battalion for the unit commanded by the sadistic commander who looks unkept with the beard. I'm pretty loose with unit designations, and at the end of the day I don't think it makes much difference.

I had surmised that this was a parody of some sort. I would never have guessed it was a parody of the Japan vs China war. Though, that explains some text on page 35. On the bottom left panel, there was a lot of text about the dead Japanese soldier, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out what she was talking about. So, I decided it had to be a Chinese idiom and just made up something that kind of made sense. The same goes for the rest of that page. Page 35 was by far and away the hardest page to make any sense of the text.

Finally, I wish I could take you up on your offer to proofread, but I wish to remain anonymous, and my only motivation is to share with other fans. When I finally get to page 153, I may bundle up all of my intermediate materials and upload them somewhere. I have all of the working files preserved in paint.net format. Paint.net may be a windows based layout program, and it's the only one I know. I don't want to mess with adobe crap or gimp, as they're overkill for my purposes.

It helped me make better sense of the story (including the fact that every site this is uploaded to has the chapters out of order and that A Zhai's segments are original to the comic). You do have to make an account (completely free) if you want to access the site, however. If you want, I can make a google drive post with the whole story as translated by google.

What OCR programs do you use? I use EasyScreenOCR but it can only partially translate this particular comic thanks to it being handwritten (sometimes badly so). With really roughly drawn words, how do you deal with those? Do you just draw them more clearly in some drawing program and translate that or something?

Well,sorry for the late response.Recently I was quite busy but finally I started my holiday and I managed to get paint.net during the day.And the only problem is where to get your paint.net format,so I may initiate my work ASAP.
PS.if possible,avoid google drive or something.as you know,the great firewall of china,together with the shutdown of some of my proxies makes my accessing these sites a hard mission.😭

And one more thing,since I am total rookie for proofeading this sort of work,so I wonder if some of my potential unprofessional deeds may be forgiven.

To any who don't know, the author has uploaded the first installment of a similar work to his pixiv account. The new work is toned down from this one, so lets hope with time the viciousness will kick in.

OCR Programs
a) A now defunct website that was using a combo of Google's Vision API & Microsoft's Translator API. I won't give the name of the site because they're all ready so swamped with visitors that they're begging for money and operating sporadically. I found the site using google, so with luck you should be able to find it too. Anyway, it was an excellent site as it would provide positional data for the text. Furthermore, as long as the text was fairly legible it would translate. The site did not translate handwriting though. The website also did not translate Japanese well, for Japanese use google.
b) Google Drive is how I translate most things. It's a pain in the ass process, but it does translate at least 50-75% of Chinese Handwriting. Here's an overview of using google to translate.
a) Set up a Google drive account
b) Upload an image containing text, (Often I will only upload a panel at a time)
c) Open the image using 'Google Docs'
d) When the image opens, the text in it will be OCR'd
e) Cut and paste the text into google translate com
Sometime I will clean up the original text a little, which in the case of this work means removing extraneous background lines. I found that actually cleaning up or darkening the text didn't work.

Finally, the translated text often needs to be reworked so that it sounds natural to English ears. I try pretty hard to not change the story, but sometimes the translation is too sketchy to be able to do that. In the case of indecipherable text, I make something up that sounds good and fits. My primary goal of this translation is the amusement of the reader, and not necessary a professional translation.

Finally

It will be sometime before I get back to this. Translating this is quite time consuming, and I'm thinking of compositing and translating a bunch of Sachisuke Masumura images together into a fairly vicious work.

I recommend EasyScreenOCR, uses Google Translate as base, use a hotkey to draw a box on the screen and it OCRs the area. Useful for OCRing individual speech bubbles. You can try the trial version for free. Full version requires a little bit of setup but theres instructions on its site, and then for 18 bucks you get like half a million pages to to OCR. Its actual translator isnt as good as Google Translate itself but you can simpy copy paste the text from the program to Google Translate.

Update #2

I've added 17 pages to the story, bringing it to page 75. My plans are to continue translating and updating till around page 110 or so, though who knows when I'll get around to it. I decided to update today because I've been on different fetish kick for a number of months, and I've been translating those works instead of this one. Sorry.

On the plus side, I see that there is now another group who is doing a real translation of this story. I was very happy to see the first 10 pages that they did. I was even happier to see that my machine aided translation wasn't too far from the mark. I really hope they get around to translating pages 34-39, as google only translated about half the text, and I had to fill in the blanks.

The original author is back to updating on pixiv, though unless something changes, I doubt I'll translate them.

@zxbpzl - That was a pretty interesting explaination. I had really wondered what it meant in this context. I ended up with calling the place the Beauty World, for a want of anything better to call it.

@mefatguy90 - I'm still working on translating more. I'd like to get to around page 103 before updating again. That could be 3 or 4 months in the future. Also, I have no plans of going past page 103 or so, as the nature of the comic transistions, around there, from being somewhat tongue in cheek satire, to much darker themes. In particular I won't be translating the latest chapters available on pixiv. Also, some of my other intrests of a hentai nature have been demanding attention lately, so I've been translating other things. One observation I've made is that it's much easier to launch a project, than to complete it. ~sigh~

Update #3

I've added 20 pages to the story, bringing it to page 95. This is a pretty good breaking off point for a while. Everyone's all smiles and having a good time at the party. This update includes Zhai getting a little Mei pussy, our first glimpse of the blackhearts commander, we learn the finer points of skewering a meat animal. Then we skip to the meat preparation after the next battle we haven't seen yet that will occur in the next 50 pages. We also pay a visit to the local village to trade prepped meat for Pussy on the hoof. All, in all a pretty good 20 pages. I can hardly wait to hear the howls of protest at the other sites when they lift it. Jackasses just don't know what good eating is.

The original author continues updating on pixiv and the story has returned to areas that are pretty funny. I'm hoping that he'll keep it up, though just reading his translated comments, I can't decide if he hates doing this or not.

It will be a while before I get back to this. Maybe around XMas if we're lucky. This is quite slow going and, the next 60 pages delve into some real grim shit, here and there.

Unexpectently, the author or someone uploaded another 1100 pages of material, which has a lot of frames of this story in it. The new uploads contain outtakes, line drawings, and trial runs of story events. Its pretty damn good, and considering the way the author whined and complained on pixiv, if feared for his sanity and didn't expect anything more on this story in my life.
