This story seems to take place right at the start of Neo-Traditionalism of Japan, when Merry is discharged from the sanatorium where she was admitted after getting attacked on Torifune during the events of Trojan Green Asteroid. Renko's first line on Pg.7 is even taken straight from the NTJ story verbatim.

Translation notes:
Pg.28 "Shinshuu" is an old name for contemporary Nagano Prefecture, former Shinano province.
The sanatorium in Shinshuu, tentatively referred to as "Shinshuu Sanatorium" in the existing translation of Neo-Traditionalism of Japan's story, is also where Merry was held.
