This comes across like a rewrite with how much American jargon is inserted that clearly doesn't exist in the original work. Thanks for the translation of a misaki doujin you clearly put a lot of work into it but I think you went way too far in your attempt to "localize" this and its off putting at far too many spots as a result. There is clearly a lot of people here who are enjoying this Americanized work but I can't stand this shit.

Since I don't know the original, I can't judge how well the work is translated and localized. Was the meaning of the work secured or was it changed beyond recognition? Was it improved? What does a reader want from a work? A faithful literal translation to know all about the origin and japanese subculture? Or entertaining, hot dialogue for a porn work that resonates within their own cultural background? No one is right or wrong whether they enjoyed that style of translation or didn't. Though it may be important how future works should be translated and what the translators and readers prefer.

It's referencing "mi casa su casa" which gets used in english, an english speaker adapting it to something other than house would likely still just use mi and su. Though I've never heard anyone actually doing that.

I checked the RAWs and compared with the TL for a few pages, just because it's exceptionally rare to have this kind of localization. Can confirm that while it's pretty heavily "colored", the translation is accurate and does capture the original pretty damn well. Props to you.

Very ironic that people would rather raise their doubts about the quality of this kind of TL than the actual garbage MTL rewrites that pollute this site, but what can you do.

Though, I'd be careful with some of your more overly-enthusiastic additions. There is such a thing as too much localization (Brock's jelly doughnuts xd). Still, great read.

I'm not sure if this is a reference to something or a genuine mistake but the dialogue on p.8 where Misaki says "mi tetas su tetas" is gramatically incorrect. If you were trying to use proper Spanish it should say "mis tetas, tus tetas" as those are the possesive pronouns for plural nouns, "mi" and "tu" are used for singular nouns instead.

on p3 where you write "at my door waits noone but", i think the wording you were trying to go for was "waits none other than". and if you're going to stick around here, linking to the raw in your uploader comment is good etiquette. giving a shoutout to the author's page/s or any purchase links doesn't hurt either if you're going to have a translator credit page.

anyway, great TL etc. some of the liberties taken do stray a liiittle close to rewrite territory IMO, but i'd still say this ends up more faithful to the original than those TLs that lose all the character of the original through overly stiff literal dialogue.

I get the comparison between gyarus and valley girls, and I honestly liked the dialogue (it really drove home the fact that she's just a stupid slut), but for the sake of accuracy you can't exactly translate gyaru speak. Despite some similarities, gyarus are simply not valley girls and they don't have comparable dialects. It's kind of a lose-lose situation. You either stick closely to the translation and have many of the subtleties and quirks lost (like most translated Japanese dialogue honestly), or you try to go with a western equivalent and risk straying too far from the translation for it to be called one. I think you probably did take too many liberties with the translation, but having said this I enjoyed the translation in its entirety; I just have enough self-awareness to realize that I'm probably the minority in that respect.

If you want to play it safe next time, I'd recommend that you stick more closely to the translation, but in the end, you do you bro. Go with what feels right to you. I'd enjoy this translation either way.

@qweasd42 Pretty much this. I think the girl's dialogue is on point but the guy's is both too stiff and not stiff enough at times. After reading the other translation for my fap earlier today and seeing comments, I did some cursory comparisons. I think Mitsumori's internal thoughts should be more stiff but his externals thoughts should be slightly less stiff. Like Page 5 second panel is way way too lax compared to what the guy is actually saying in the original for a specific example.

Ah well, between this one and the other one, I prefer this one overall but its not like both don't have their pros and cons in my mind. Simply put, the guy is too loose in this translation and the girl is too formal in the other translation.
