You know, if you think about it a little, isn't the "White Queen" costume kinda sorta basically just underwear with a cape?

The main nonsensical bit here is that the King, Queen, and Bishop positions in the Hellfire Club aren't hereditary. They're a meritocracy mixed with limited democracy: if you are powerful enough to outmaneuver a sitting member and depose them, on top of being rich and powerful enough to qualify to be in the Hellfire Club, then the other members of the inner circle can vote you in. Alternately, you can do what Shaw actually did to get an almost all-mutant Inner Circle: have a coup. He blackmailed, manipulated, and assassinated the other Inner Circle members and replaced them with mutants (Donald Pierce and Friedriche von Roehme were the only two that weren't: Pierce was fanatically anti-mutant and Shaw couldn't get at him, and von Roehme was a pawn of Selene Gallio, the Black Queen, so he was basically a rich boy-toy with a token title).

The second nonsensical thing is that illegitimate children don't figure into primogenitor (inheritance by the first born). Not to mention, in the time period in question, the child of a slave owner and a slave would be considered livestock/property unless and until the slave owner chose to emancipate the child. Even in the rare instances where that happened (usually in the owner's will, not while they were alive), it could be challenged by their heirs (and often was), and the child was almost never legitimized or recognized as the offspring of the owner . . . although aside from a childhood nanny or other particularly fondly thought of slave, almost none where freed except offspring, so most people could put two and two together.

So, basically, his claim is absurd and baseless . . . but the ability to come in and dominate the White Queen by itself is all the claim to the title he'd actually need, assuming the position of Black King was vacant, and assuming the other Inner Circle members didn't block him.
