@Hentairo1 the heroine also didn't get a whole faceful of the green slime that triggered the conversion, and her eyes are already noticeably changed even before she puts on the mask. The mask just completes her so the seeded corruption can spread the rest of the way.

@Hentairo1 - In my mind, she stares into the green glowing eyes (I know, I know, I AM the Anax! Mwa ha ha ha!) and then her eyes glow green in response as she is tranced by the light. That's my interpretation, and so it wills her to put on the hood, which in turn, turns off her mind.
