I can’t see why this could not develop into a love triangle where Kashiwagi cannot choose between her two admirers. Komatsu is immature enough to make the mistakes needed for such a plot twist.

Except that the main character has almost certainly been programmed to lack any initiative of the right kind. It’s not like Kashiwagi will go to him begging, "Your best friend has been such an ass, please hold me and comfort me!"

Whatever, this is still one of the most realistic NTR stories I’ve ever read. If there’s not gonna be a part 3 (which is apparently the case), the open ending just adds to the realistic effect.

I’m finding it funny that a work this serious (compared to, say, NT Labo’s works) includes character designs that look something like crossovers between "Peanuts" from the U.S. and "Gaston" from Belgium. The story would probably have worked even if the girls were designed in a more caricature-like way as well, provided that they were given the necessary air of cuteness reflecting the boys’ feelings towards them.
