No one is ever going to convince me old to new is not the superior sort, no matter what fav counts say. And ratings never meant anything other than salty people hating on the genre. If a Doujin updated like {pg 1,2,3} into {pg 4,5,6,1,2,3} it'd drive you all insane. So for the uploader, on pixiv image sets, you have to do extra sorting to un-reverse multi-image posts. That's more work for the uploader. For viewers, on old to new, in an image set that's large as hell, you scroll down to the comments and someone says "Nipple birth asshole vore is on pg 150" guess what? If you go to pg150, that's where it is. If it's sorted by new to old, now you have no idea where it is, it's gone. Favourite notes and comment notes on where something is becomes worthless. I annotate my favourites notes a lot, especially for image-sets like pixiv dumps where everything is unrelated. If I ever come back to it, all the notes are now worthless and I have to figure out how many images have been added since, and add that to all the numbers. Thanks for linking the other gallery, that's the one I'll be favouriting
