Off-topic; Why do people want picture resolution higher than x1280? Doesn't some times the huge file sizes and resolutions seems a bit overkill? I understand wanting to have the source with high quality, but what is it that people actually use these very high resolutions for that justifies storing these huge files, over x1280 ones that seem "good enough"? Does anybody here actually uses these huge files or are they just guessing other people do, like guessing that some people allegedly use these files when editing, for whatever unlikely reason.

I'm asking because, if I were to download it, I don't know if i should "waste" my disk space with the huge resolutions if I'll never actually use them for anything other than viewing the story. I wish I could have a sample of all the stories in high quality, but who has enough disk space...

The reason I prefer source images is the same reason I prefer FLAC to MP3: I want to see the artwork as close as possible to the way the artist intended.

More practically, I am one of those people with a stupidly large monitor, and 1280x images simply don't fill my available screen real estate. I also have a 16tb storage system to justify the space requirements. (However, with the speed and storage sizes of computers today, 36mb for this many pages isn't "huge" in the first place.)

I understand not everyone cares about having the maximum quality images, and that's fine. I'm probably in the vocal minority. But consider that the site generates the lower resolution files for those who want to save space and/or don't care about high resolution files. Worst case scenario, you could downsize anything you download in the future in order to fit your space requirements. You can *always* choose to do this. But if the translator starts off with lower res images, people like me can't magically add quality. The information is lost permanently. Starting off with source images give me the choice.

As for reasons you personally might want to download the source images, well, that's up to you, based on what resources you have available in terms of internet speed and disk space. This is just hentai, so it's not the end of the world if you grab the ones good enough to read and move on. One reason might be if you ever consider upgrading your disk space or monitor in the future.
