I think DR:II broke him hard. He went in to write the sequel to the original Dulce Report with the clear endgoal of resurrecting Aoi and giving her and Momoe a happy end, but quickly got lost in the weird snail stories and femdom subplots. He clearly tried to find a satisfying way to warp up the story for a time, buying time by multiplying the filler chapters with nothing but the characters having sex in their renting cottage in Karuizawa, before simply giving up and ending up the story the worst way possible, by killing all secondary characters to avoid having to close their characters arcs.
And since then he's back in his comfort zone, futanari schoolgirls slice of life. Both with his series in the Futanari Friends! anthology and his doujinshi series FutaFuan, in which he his able to continue Aoi and Momoe's story without any pressure related to having to think of what's coming up with the story. And I'm fine with that, it's preferable to convoluted storylines that goes nowhere. I just wish he's show us what the surviving characters such as Yuki, Midori or Kurumi have become.
Years ago, @zaiaku said that the futafuan story will end with everyone in the school either mindslaved or transformed into a futa, I kinda agree with him, given the last few chapters.

Q has done lots of futa stories that don't involve Aoi or Momoe, so saying he only draws a single couple over and over again simply isn't true. But I'm also happy that he still draws Aoi and Momoe because those characters are a big reason why I got into Futanari in the first place.

We have been working on the series for years now, and Q is a master and also a human with challenges in his life and the times in japan have not been easy. A bit more kindness and understanding from fans would be nice. he is a master of his theme and has developed it for decades. he got depresed and lost energy but some of the Dulce II stories have some of his very best ever images..this new chapter is a joy and is in the fullest and best bloom of his love of the Futanari. We love to see it and hope he does more. Aoi still has things she can do and show. And the overall genre is one of the best of H anime and manga ever and always will be.

@Vance163 Same, I probably wouldn't have gotten into futanari if it hadn't been for stumbling across Q's original DR series and the morbid curiosity that it captured me with.

His comfort zone is perfectly fine by me, he has a passion for it, and that's going to be better than anything he makes without said passion. If an artist wants to stick to a certain theme, characters that they love, artstyle, etc. there's nothing wrong with that, people will either like what they put out or they won't.

But yeah, he has done stuff on tons of other characters over the years, it's just that these two are a staple that he also continues to make stuff of, which again, isn't a bad thing. I actually enjoy the slice of life futanari lewd scenarios that he comes up with for them.

Eh to be honest things went out the window with how DR: II ended; Aoi died not wanting to be an asshole trying to live forever by bodyjacking people just cause she could...and at the end of II, she did it and to the entity she didn't want to have it happen with the most: her actual kid with Momoe. Like, all FutaFaun has also been incest.

Yukari didn't give Momoe (and Aoi) a choice. She unilaterally decided conceive her new body to get a new start in life and left her original one back to her father. And like Aoi, she didn't take Momoe's "no" as an answer. Like father, like daughter.
And I really like this ending, thematically it really works. There was this weird abandoned plotline in DR:II in which Yukari's body was supposed to be a clone of Aoi, but Q never explained how the fuck it happend or really used it later in the story. With that in mind Yukari is giving back her body to Aoi while concevining her new body with her mother. In the epilogue we can see that her new baby body has pale hair, presumably pink like her mother. So they are in fact finally becoming the family they were meant to be, Aoi gets her body back, Yukari gets one of her own and they can live happilly ever after, fucking and turning girls into futa. the seven years age gap between Momoe and Aoi notwithstanding. And this fixes the "Momoe and Yukari are now doing incest" critique made against Q.
Of course if you think too much of it it becomes really bizarre because Q's convoluted plots can be, well, really convoluted. And DR:II's went quite deep into this rabbit hole. But that's also part of why we love Q's works and still talking about it 20 years later.

And in this I quite understand those who are disappointed in seeing him leaving Dulce Repport 's SF storyline behind and embracing the happy-go-lucky fuckfest slice-of-life. Because this was also part of the appeal of the series, it was one of the few eromanga you could say you were reading because of the plot and not for the sex scenes (but you knew you really were reading it to see Aoi smash Momoe's pussy with her horse dick).

We believe he may come back to the Second story, yes he had to stop and recover he hit a wall. we all do at times. but the story can still be saved. the real inner story was the revival of the evil overlord insid her and that could have led to a lot of very good story. We hope it can happen but this revival story here shows the Master has not lost his touuch at all.

it is as fine as any of his work on the story and is better than those last moments of DR:II for sure. the tides of creativity are strong in the best of the Manga writers and artsits and Q is one of the best ever.
