In page 24, it even says that the soul retreated to the womb and you can see in the final page, the legs are hanging at a way that wouldn't be natural for a carcass.

@UnlimitedBlades the thing is, no-one in this world in particularly safe. The demons get offed a lot by the exorcists as well, and they die in a panel or less. Fan no Hitori's work are incredibly dystopian where the best you get us a few climaxes before you die.
