An incomplete set, but archived none the less from Mandarake and an Ameblo blog that contained a page that references the settei themselves. There are other images already on the web, such as from this source: https://twitter.com/_animarchive/status/946384647008735232, that confirms that the settei was in fact documented. None the less, the images documented here are original watercolors by Yasuhiko Yoshikazu with some additional drawings, of which were done in Super Atragon's earliest point of development. Makoto Kobayashi, the mechanical designer for the Venus Wars OVA, worked closely with Yas on the designs for this series, and some of his earliest concept work is included in this as well.

Super Atragon is based on the same film from 1963, which in turn is based on two novels, The Undersea Warship: A Fantastic Tale of Island Adventure by Shunrō Oshikawa and The Undersea Kingdom by Shigeru Komatsuzaki. Both novels are still insanely popular in Japan til this day and could be compared to Moby Dick in their timelessness; the OVA was produced by Phoenix Entertainment in 1995. The OVA is noted for being more or less a flop, but was revered among those who appreciated its inception. This is a great historical document on Yas' 1990s style, as its not covered in the West sans for F91.

Super Atragon is the only film Yas did not animate on personally, working strictly on character design as he was working on several manga at the time (he is noted to have been exhausted by working directly on animating after F91's failure as well as the cancellation of his original anime, Legend of the Blue Men (蒼い人の伝説) in 1992).
