I'm imagining it as like that early episode of the TV series where Kronk and Kuzco steal one of Yzma's potions to transform into girls, but since their voices stay the same despite the physical transformation the characters are just doing bad falsettos to fool people (which everyone sees through IIRC) and still speaking in their normal voices when no one else is present.
