Rance is evil, period.

Not really, just incredibly impulsive and...ok yeah slightly evil. However a lot of the "evil" things he does actually work out for the best (and not just for him). Sill (his pink haired slave) was originally owned by a much much more vicious person before Rance saved her. Kenshin would have eventually been raped by her uncle without Rance's intervention (even before the war he was plotting to betray and rape her). Without Rance capturing them Chinu and Ran die in every single route. The only girls I can think Rance ever was truly malicious with are Yukihime (albeit she does fall in love with him), Akihime (rance is still an upgrade from her husband), and Shizuka who really does hate him.
