Why are people shitting on the story? it's slowed down in pacing, but thats because they want to do something new with Takumi. they already went batshit extreme with the story in the beginning and in case you don't remember, the series ended super fast at first then. Shindol kept having to flash back to the middle of the story to get actual content out of it. so they want to actually pace Takumi's story instead. And they're doing amazing work with it.

The actual plot is no more extreme than it was back in the day, in fact it's way more elaborate. back then it was just "fuck a bunch of classmates, then become a hooker and fuck a bunch of strangers". Now the plot actually goes places.
