Makima was showing her dominance over Denji at that point in the story. She was psychologically manipulating him to defeat the Hell Devil. I saw it as more of a juxtaposition with her actual servants shown earlier in the chapter. She wasn't able to dominate Denji with her power because she didn't see him as weaker than her, so she was trying to psychologically break him. Makima is (almost) always in a position of control. That even extends to Nayuta - she doesn't think Denji is weaker than her, but she's still dominant.
