Upscaling models are usually shit because they either blur or sharpen things too much. This one is only good because it works specifically on halftones. I tried it a while back on a 572x800 image and whilst it did kill gradients, the results were impressive. I did mess up size (not resolution) on this one though while exporting. LearnJP told me how to export it with fewer colors and smaller size but i just exported as a regular "save as png, slowest saving" as usual. I wouldn't use the model normally but i compared it to my normal leveling and it just looked better.

Yeah, I have been experimenting with this upscaling model all day. Unless the base image is too small, there's not so much loss in details (in most cases). It could be really useful when you're stuck with a not so good raw.

The upscaling really fucked up the halftones, what you're seeing is a strong moiré pattern.

It's not that the upscaling fucked up the halftones. I think the moiré pattern here has to do with the sharpness in comparison to the resolution and type of halftoning (please, correct me if I'm wrong).
If that's the case, then I think it could be managed or reduced.

If you're having problems with the moire, don't wank to the thumbnails. If you click the thumbnail it opens the full sized image where the moire isn't even noticeable.

FYI, AI upscaled galleries are considered improper. AI upscaling can get the gallery expunged as it will be considered inferior to any equivalent non-upscaled version. Uploads are supposed to match the original as close as possible (with exceptions for necessary edits for translations, de-censoring, etc). Would be a shame to put in all that editing work, only for the gallery to get nuked.

To my knowledge, there is only one AI tool approved to date for this site, Waifu2x.

In update 2, you fixed the problem on page 1, but you un-fixed the 'oopsie' on page 25. The word 'hair' is missing at the top of panel 1 and in panel 2, the 'i' in 'it's' should be capitalized.

That's true if it's a duplicate of something that already exists on the site, like an existing TL or a RAW that some random ran through an upscaler. Things that don't exist in an unupscaled form can't be expunged for being upscaled unless a better quality/original version is uploaded to replace it. And in the case of a translator/editor/group uploading a TL on an upscaled raw it can't be expunged at all unless someone from the same group/the original uploader does it themselves due to uploader priority.

tl;dr this isn't gonna get expunged
