So, while very few blacks were in frontline units, there were tons in "rear-line" units.

So when the front line moved on, the civilians had to deal with the rear-line African Units. Emmit Tills dad was one of these soldiers & he was executed since he couldn't keep it in his pants.

Ironically (or not?), the Red Army had a similar issue. Front line units were highly disciplined and generally didn't interact with civilians, they moved through quickly, while the rear line units were the rape-and-pillage forces of "Kome Frau" Infamy.
