Prob just me, but I don't group futas and transgenders together. I kinda look at futas like a fantasy species (usual traits: big dicked, super fertile, natural dom). When a comic mentions anything implying the futa was a man, I nope out.

I'm curious if someone really sympathetic to trans people looks at the whole thing differently. IIRC, futa used to be used pretty exclusively to refer to someone with both sets of genitals. "Shemale" was more commonly used to refer to someone who only had a dick and balls in those days, at least insofar as cartoon porn and hentai went. These days, the usage of the term futa to refer to any woman with a dick has broadened such that you can't really tell them apart from a transwoman. There's even a third term, bustyboy, which looks exactly the same except they use he/him pronouns.

I do think of futas as different from trans people, but the difference is semantic. It's not possible to tell the difference in art by sight alone anymore; you have to be told which it is by the artist.
