While i'm not a huge fan of AI translated works in general, you at least put in the work to make sure the lines flow properly. So many AI translated works read terribly because no one put any effort into them. While a translation by someone who actually knows japanese is usually better, I'd take this over the zero-effort garbage other AI-users put out any day.

Yeah the problem is not AI translations, but lazy AI translations. I translate sometimes for professional business use, and even there I use AI/tranlation app to speed up the process. The key is to have someone (me) there to make edits in case AI was dumb. I speak the translated language though

Agree, downvote all you want, the reality is a shitton of good doujins are left untranslated for years and when some AI, or even non-AI but very average translation comes up people are up in arms to point all the mistakes in every page and complain that "nobody will translate it now". Brother, it was not getting translated anyway, if you're good enough to point out in a lengthy post every single mistake someone made in a bad translation, maybe you should have contributed in translation groups towards translating it yourself, no?

Pointing out mistakes is fine, but the whole "bwaaah nobody will translate it now!" is ridiculous, nobody was gonna translate it unless planets aligned like they do once in a long while, but now that someone decided to finally give it a try with a bad but good faith attempt *you* suddenly show up and take time of your day to actually translate it for the sole purpose of shitting on the dude that at least fucking tried to translate it when no one did, sometimes translating something that went YEARS without any translation in sight.

Worst is, I DO agree that it is true that "nobody will translate it now" but you know what? Tough luck, nothing fucking changed, it was not gonna happen, you didn't translate it before, and now "it's too late". It's not actually too late, teams are just gonna be busy translating something else as they were already busy doing, nothing was lost.

And I know translation and editing and other stuff take time and people. I'd be satisfied even with a rough translation in fucking comments or hell, even an external document, over not being to understand shit *ever*. If you care enough about some doujin that you consider worth your spare time to translate something just for the sake of shitting on a rough translation (not pointing out mistakes, that is fine, I mean specifically shitting) then maybe you should have taken some of that spare time before and actually did it.

EDIT: Most of my rant applies to bad but non-AI translations, which isn't the case here and I know that. Just get the same vibes from people giving it shit.

If anything, sometimes (rarely) bad translations actually makes those people properly translate it out of spite.
