The design of their older selves is great and you can tell that the artist really loves and can capture the feel of the original material. Helga's look in most of the images looks exceptionally good.
Arnold also looks good, but seeing his weird-ass head on an adult body is slightly off-putting.
Hey Arnold! is definitely one of the best shows of the Nickelodeon 90s and early 2000s era. Not all of the episodes are perfect, but it used and talked about a lot of mature topics and issues for kids growing up that doesn't make it too complicated or talks down on the viewers.
A little bittersweet considering the canned Helga spin-off that would take place during their later teenage/early college years. With Arnold being mostly absent from the potential series, it would've been interesting to see how Helga would tackle entering adult life with the shitty childhood from the original show.
It just shows how much these old shows that we watched as kids would mean so much to us as adults.
...Wow, this got a whole lot more serious than it needed to be.
Great show, I remember the channel hype for it that was built up before it first aired. Good memories of watching this back then... except for that one tenant in the building. Can't remember his name but he was an illiterate bum who treated his wife like crap, sponged off everyone else in the building and was just basically an arsehole. Quite a realistic character, even if I was too young to realise exactly how much it was at the time.
