They can give someone hope because everyone have their own problems, small or big. And this story isn't so outlandish that it couldn't happen in real life. It's plausible.

What I love about this story is it avoids some of the pitfalls or tropes of these type of stories. In an inferior story one of the rapists would have popped back up and tried to blackmail her. Given how vanilla this is, it would have been thwarted it but still would have broken up the feel-good nature of this. Everything is given time to breathe and we're not rushed into their relationship or have her relive her trauma. And how he finds out feels "real", some mouthy old people speaking when they shouldn't instead of some long drawn out melodramatic scene.

I also like how it treats rape. So many H-manga treat it as no big deal, but this treats it as a serious matter with ramifications. We don't know how badly the situation went but we get an idea that it was very, very bad. Again, a lesser story would have painted it much blacker and whiter with a long flashback or something of that effect.

I went in not knowing what to expect given how loaded the term "broken" is and was rewarded with one of the best vanilla stories on this site.

Storytelling is a facinating concept, and regardless of the medium it takes, how it can portray and shape emotions is amazing, and we humans are such curious things.

There are 7 billion people in the world now, and billions more that have lived before, and in the grand collective of human experiences, I don't actually find it all that unlikely that me and my own lived experiences have ended up here. This story hits too close to home for me to be comfortable.

Its taken me nearly a year of trying to actually finish this comic. I could never get through it even at the early chapters. Its like reading Emergence but in reverse, and the overpowering happiness and optimisim was hard to get through in its own right. And it all just reminded me in a really sour way the sorry state of my own life, and this window into what I was so close to having. 10/10 story, would sob uncontrolably in a corner for hours again.
