Rules being around for a long time doesn't mean someone is going to know the ins and outs of how a website works right away. Expecting people to perfectly follow the rules at all times and making a hissy fit when 1 small issue that is actually completely meaningless and very easily fixable is far more retarded than simply being a good human being.
