Silliness aside, I really like this guy. His (translated, I don't know about the rest) stories have a grounded yet fantastical element to them that makes each of them feel unique, like the girl's precociousness in Portrait of a Wave or the simple, straightforward purity in this one, that isn't exactly realistic but is believable withinin the context of the setting. I find myself constantly rooting for his characters' well beings and wishing that the positive relationships they develop in the stories last. I want Souta to work his ass off to get to Tokyo and end up with Kyoko, and if he doesn't, I want it to work out for them anyway. Gimme some more of that Tsuki ga Kirei shit, I live for the sappy sweet. I'll admit that some of his stories don't really appeal to me (didn't like First-Magnitude Star Girl, I'm a giga siscon and it makes me sad to see sisters getting taken advantage of), but they're all very well written and believable within the situation he sets up.
