How can you make "corrections" if you don't understand the original text? If you can't you're basically just guessing based on context and hoping it will be better than whatever nonsense the MTL spewed out, or in others words, it's not only a bad translation but also bordering on a rewrite. The fact that "corrections" are even necessary should be a pretty big red flag about the quality of the "translation" in the first place, but I guess that requires common sense.

To do a good translation you need to be proficient in both the language you're translating from and the language you're translating to, especially when both languages are as different as English and Japanese are. If you don't understand something this simple it doesn't give much hope that those "corrections" will be remotely accurate.

Anyways, posting this is just a waste of time because the kind of people who post MTLs publicly and, even worse, act as if they're doing the world a giant favor are too stupid and/or conceited to be reasoned with.

It's because the current stance is that quantity is better than quality, and anyone that goes against this line is quickly put on the moderation's shitlist. They don't want to introduce things like an MTL tag because they're concerned it'll just hurt uploader's feelings and there isn't enough people on the forums fighting them over it.

So if the quality of the content being uploaded to the site bothers you, get on the forums and tell them about it.
