You know you're a comic geek when you see Cap getting a BJ by MJ, and the first thing you think is "He can't crush his shield like that......No One Can!!" ^_^

@Omniscient Narrator : Been a long while since I last read any comics (kind of dropped them all in the late 90s/early Oughts). As I recall his original shield was truly indestructible, because it was a compound of Vibranium, Adamantium, and a mysterious 'Element X' that somehow got mixed into the alloy while it was forming,

The only persons I could recall damaging that shield was The Molecule Man (who turned out to be half of a Cosmic Cube at the time), and Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet.

Current canon probably makes it just Vibranium to match the movies, and the movies only have it Vibranium because at the time they didn't have the rights to use Adamantium (an 'element' part of the Fox X-Men universe).

Aaaaakshully... Cap has lost or damaged his vibranium shield several times through his history, having to replace it with regular Stark-provided steel shields.
If I'm not mistaken, at the time this story takes place, Cap had got his latest shield, made with Asgardain Uru metal, stolen by Speed Demon, so he was back at regular breakable shields.
