This mechanic shows up in a number of their other works (the whole sex petrification snuff thing) but I really hate its utilization in this one. After the betrayal, rape and them still wanting to be together it just feels mean.

Honestly, quite liked that for once, the succubi proved to be a monster that cannot be reasoned with. I would have preferred if the author definitely committed to an ending rather than simply suggesting it, but hey, sometimes you need a reminder that monsters can, indeed, be monstrous.

I really enjoyed the story of this one. I like how it took the time to build the characters up in such a short page count. The way that Claire lost herself over time, but still clearly felt guilt even to the end where she asked for her to look forward to her judgement day, it was an interesting touch. I also like how even to the end Mitsumi tried her best to be with her, but ultimately it was futile. It just really tugged at the heartstrings.

Claire was really trying to make Mutsumi hate her. She couldn't stop herself from completely draining her and it would have been easier if Mutsumi hated her and now she has to live with that. But Mutsumi definitely got off worse, and not just because she was killed by the girl she took in. She didn't want to be a weak woman and in the end that's how she died.

All of this artists works are a total bummer but this one might be the worst.

You know, this begs the question of why NOT stop when Mutsumi reached lvl 1 and then let her level up again while also draining other people... If succubi levels depend strictly on the levels of others, killing people over and over seems extremely inefficient in the long run...

Less kinky too if you do that to everyone, even if the whole petrification snuff thing has its own appeal kink-wise. Keeping a harem of peeps that level up and feed you levels and cum seems much more efficient in the long-run, and a succubus could then also power carry them to level-up faster for a kinky and mutually beneficial long-term relationship.

Ah well, maybe someone will make a story like that one day.

The impression I got was that Succubi can't help themselves. Once they start they can't stop until they have drained every last drop. Like some kind of subconscious compulsion that overrides their logical reasoning.

If the urge was that strong, I don't think that the older succubus would have been able to stick around and watch for as long as she did. It's more likely that in the case of the newbie, her transformation was so forced and quick that she lost even the smallest hint of self-control. It'd be like putting a young child in an adult body and then suddenly subjecting them to drugs... they'd have zero ability to resist.

That's what I think happened with Claire, she basically went insane. Perhaps a slower paced, gradual transformation would have allowed her to keep her self control.

Though, if succubi in the setting really have no ability to supress their urges through reasoning and can't stop until their prey is dead... they're pretty much doomed. They'll either drain everyone until they have no one else to drain, or they'll be exterminated. In the long run, a balance can't be maintained. Which makes for a very screwy setting... but that's to be expected from this artist.

Their art-style is very hot, but everything is doom and gloom. XD

If the artists other stories are anything to go by that wouldn't work. Succubi, and his other level draining sex demons, get diminishing returns for the levels they steal, and they possibly stop gaining levels altogether once the level disparity reaches a certain point. It'd be like trying to level up your level 50 Charizard on level 5 Oddish. Technically possible but there are better options. For that same reason keeping a harem of low level people just wouldn't be worth the effort. They'd need to be fed, cleaned, housed and they'd need to be allowed some method of leveling up. All with a harem big to make the level gain worth the effort put in. It just wouldn't be feasible. Better to find a high level adventurer and drain his levels. And hunting adventurers of a similar level would naturally put the succubi in danger and self regulate their population.
