I will never understand what's going on in the heads of rapists. Even if you're a sociopath with little to zero empathy, the risk of eventually being caught is still huge.

Serial rapists who hunt and abduct random strangers are about as common as serial killers. Most rape is committed by someone who already knows the victim or simply takes advantage of an opportunity that presents itself. Although that really depends on how the rape is carried out. A girl getting ruffied at a bar or club is different from what we see in this eroge. This guy is bound to get arrested like this. The police also know about the dark web and will be looking for the people who film their own crimes (plus if he let's these girls go, the evidence of what happened to them will be seen by their friends and family so others will know even if the girls don't talk about it).

Do they get caught all that often though? I'm sure there are many of them that are not caught, especially if their DNA is not in the database. Serial rapists and murderers are WAY harder to catch then crimes committed by more "normal" people cuz they are random and there's nothing to connect them to the victim.

Rapists do have to deal with the DNA evidence, even if they don't do it raw since sex requires physical contact, but if their DNA is not in the database it's can actually be quite hard to catch them.

Rape is a lot less common than it used to be, especially in the developed world, cuz it is much easier to catch them now, that is true. This is especially true if you rape someone you know, which I think is actually the majority of crimes, or among those reported.
